Are you planning to fly on SpiceJet anytime soon? Well, you must understand SpiceJet's baggage policies first! It is essential for both domestic and international travellers to be clear about the baggage limits to avoid any last-minute extra fees at the airport. This guide will cover all the essential information regarding SpiceJet's baggage policy, from cabin baggage dimensions to checked bag allowances and additional fees for extra luggage.
SpiceJet Cabin Baggage Allowance
When flying with SpiceJet, you can carry one baggage per person. It can be a small handbag, a laptop bag or your purse. SpiceJet Cabin Baggage allowance is 7kg for both domestic and international flights. However, size restrictions can vary depending on the type of aircraft. For instance:
- For Boeing aircraft - The bag dimensions should be 55 cm + 35 cm + 25 cm (L+W+H).
- For Q400 aircraft - The baggage dimension limit is 50 cm + 35 cm + 23 cm (L+W+H).
Note - All carry-on luggage should fit in the overhead compartments or under the seat in front of you. You should be able to lift and carry your handbag without assistance.
SpiceJet Checked-in Baggage Allowance
Those flying with SpiceJet on a domestic flight within India can bring check-in bags of 15 kg. For international passengers, the check-in baggage weight allowance varies between 20kg and 30kg, depending on your destination. The Checked-in Baggage dimensions should be 158 cm in length, width, and height for domestic and international flights.
Note— In the case of connecting flights, if the domestic SpiceJet aircraft connects to an international SpiceJet trip or vice versa, SpiceJet's free baggage allowance for international flights would be applicable.
Special baggage on SpiceJet
SpiceJet Airlines offers its passengers an additional baggage allowance to ensure a hassle-free experience. It allows items like sports equipment, skiing equipment, golf bags, bicycles, surfboards, and LCD and LED TVs exceeding 39 inches as special baggage. A special baggage handling fee applies to these items and varies for domestic and international flights.
- For Domestic Flights - An additional fee of approx 600 - 1000 INR would be applicable.
- For International Flights, an additional fee of approximately 1700- 2000 INR would be applicable, depending on the destination.
Note—These charges are in addition to the excess baggage fee. It is always advisable to check the SpiceJet website for price updates before travel and book special baggage in advance through online mode rather than at the airport.
