Indigo (6E) Excess Baggage Charges for Domestic and International Flights

Indigo Airlines provides free baggage allowance to the passengers. This free allowance is for the cabin as well as the check in baggage. The cabin baggage free allowance is uniform for the domestic and international flights, that is, at 1 cabin bag of up to 7 kg weight and 115 cm linear dimensions. However, the free allowance for check in baggage varies according to route. For the domestic flights it is 15 kg free allowance in bag of size of linear dimensions 158 cm and only a single piece is allowed. For the international flights, the allowance could be 20 kg, 25 kg or 30 kg depending on the route and you are allowed to take up to 2 check in bags within this allowance limits.

If you are bringing excess baggage, Indigo will charge excess baggage fee. This excess baggage could be overweight or oversized bags, or more number of bags above free allowance limits. For the purpose of charging fee, it prescribes excess weight in terms of slabs of weight. These can be bought at the time of online flight booking, before travel date and even at the airport. The fee comes at a discounted rate when passengers pre-purchase it. These prices are given below segregated as domestic flights, international flights, codeshare flights and interline flights. For Domestic Flights

The prepaid charges for different slabs are:

Pre-paid charges for purchase of additional bag is Rs 900, subject to maximum of 2 bags.

The pre-paid charges can be paid till 1 hr before scheduled departure time of flight.

For International Flights

The airline clearly mentions the excess baggage charges for international flights from India (ex-India) and also to India (ex-foreign destination). The rates vary according to international destination and local currency. These can be pre-purchased at least 2 hrs before scheduled departure time of flight. International Connecting Flights

If you are flying on Indigo domestic flights and connecting to or from another international airline, then there are separate excess baggage charges, as given below. You shall pre-purchase these at least 6 hrs before the scheduled flight depature time and the connection shall be within 48 hrs.
